Definitions
L2 - Licence 2 Vendor

Developer of AMAS matching software;

Has direct influence on the development of new AMAS matching rules and program rules;

May develop non-AMAS software which uses the Postal Address file for any purpose including address correction
L3 - Licence 3 Vendor

Incorporates Licence 2 AMAS matching software within their own software package

Has influence on the development of new AMAS matching rules and program rules, generally via a Licence 2 vendor

May develop non-AMAS address correction software which uses the Postal Address File (PAF) to be sold with AMAS software.
Batch Software

Accepts bulk data

Performs automatic matching of a given target address and returns one corresponding DPID and the correctly presented address in accordance with the AMAS rules

No manual intervention or selection is required.
Rapid Addressing Software

Accepts manually-entered addresses to obtain an automatic match with the PAF, and returns a standardised address and associated DPID in accordance with the AMAS program rules.

Where an automatic match is not obtained, the software may provide an option to amend the original address by manual selection of an address and the associated DPID.
