Business Parcels Agreement Overview

If you send an average of 20 parcels or more per week, Australia Post may provide a parcel delivery contract that provides reduced rate pricing, account facilities and scheduled pick-ups.

If you are sending less than 20 parcels per week, Australia Post can also offer account facilities and a range of parcel services to meet your needs.  For more details, see non-contract parcels.

Australia Post can deliver contract* parcels up to 22kg in weight, up to 105cm long, 100cm wide and with a cubic measurement of no more than 0.25 cubic metres**. Also, with the largest network in Australia, we can deliver to almost every address in Australia including business, residential and PO Boxes.

*  Please note maximum parcel weight that can be lodged at a retail counter is 20kg.

**  An example of the largest sized parcel that can be lodged is one measuring 1.0m x 0.5m x 0.5m (i.e. 100cm x 50cm x 50cm).

Other services available to Parcel Post contract customers include:

  • eParcel - Australia Post’s electronic freight management system
  • Specialised wine delivery
  • Receipted delivery

eParcel

A convenient online freight management system for your business, designed to streamline the parcel despatch process.

The system offers:

  • Security & Reliability
Each article carries a barcode, which is scanned during the delivery process (see auspost.com.au/track).

  • Time & Money Savings
Australia Post supplies the software and labels required. Using eParcel allows more than one parcel to be consigned to one address without the need for consignment notes. It also enables you to import the consignment file from another system and store the name and address details of regular customers.  No re-keying of data is required, representing a significant saving in paperwork, time and money.

Using eParcel Online

  • An almost paperless despatch process
  • Free of charge software and mailing labels suitable for laser printers
  • Consignment creation (name, address, number and weight of each parcel)
  • Printed barcoded address labels
  • Automatically assigns consignment and article numbers
  • Charges calculated for each consignment
  • The ability to import a consignment file from another system
  • Multi-user capabilities
  • Consignment and manifest information maintained
  • Signature recorded on delivery
  • The option of Transit Cover of up to $5,000 per article
  • The option of Cash to Collect
  • Ability to check the status of the delivery via auspost.com.au/track

The System

The despatch process is as follows:

  • Consignment details are entered into the eParcel Online system or the data can be imported from your own source system
  • Barcoded address labels are printed and affixed to each parcel
  • Parcels are collected by Australia Post
  • The manifest file is transferred to Australia Post via the Internet
  • At the originating Parcel Centre, the parcels received are checked against the electronic manifest and a track event is created
  • Parcels are processed through Australia Post’s distribution network to the final destination parcel centre
  • Parcels are scanned and transferred to the delivery person for final delivery
  • Upon delivery, a signature is obtained and the parcel scanned
  • If no one is at the delivery address to receive the parcel, a card will be left advising that the parcel can be collected from the nearest post office
  • Delivery status information can be viewed at auspost.com.au/track.

Once you decide to use eParcel and an agreement has been signed with Australia Post, the system controller will e-mail you a user ID and password.

Cash to Collect

The system also provides access to Australia Post’s Cash to Collect service. This allows you to send goods to your customers and we collect the payment and transfer it to you electronically.

Proof of Delivery

Each article carries a barcoded address label, which is scanned during the delivery process. This delivery status information can then be viewed at auspost.com.au/track.

A signature is also collected on delivery. In most instances it will be displayed on our tracking website.

Specialised Wine Delivery

Australia Post is able to offer a specialised wine delivery service for contract customers who despatch more than 20 cartons of wine per week.

This service includes:

  • A distribution system using steel cages, ideal for handling these more fragile items.
  • Door to door service (although, in some rural areas, delivery is to the post office).
  • Safe delivery with basic packaging requirements (i.e. sturdy cartons and dividers between bottles).
  • Proof of delivery (if required).  This service can be used in conjunction with either eParcel or Receipted delivery.
  • Delivery if no one is at home.  We recommend you request alternate delivery instructions, such as "leave at the backdoor".
  • Pro-active advice on breakages.  If breakages do occur, we will contact you so that replacement stock can be sent.  The unbroken bottles will be re-packed and returned to you or delivered to your customer.

If you’re looking for a wine delivery service which offers convenience, cost effectiveness and security; contact your account manager, our Customer Care Centre on 13 11 18, or use the link at the top right hand corner of this page.

Receipted Delivery

Receipted Delivery is a signature on delivery service that is available to Parcel Post contract customers.

How it works:

  • Australia Post provides you barcoded green and white receipted delivery labels.
  • You affix a label to each parcel.
  • The parcels are processed through the network with regular parcels; however, they are separated out and upon final delivery a signature is collected.
  • You are able to obtain delivery details by contacting the Post Customer Care Centre.
