What is a Manifest?

Customers who choose not to meter can lodge their barcoded mail using the manifest option.

The manifest is a document that accompanies the PreSort Letters Lodgement Document. The manifest provides a breakdown on letter volumes and tray usage.

As can be seen on the sample manifest below, the manifest must provide the following information for each barcode sort plan number by State, including the Northern Territory:

• Volume of letters
• Number of trays

The above information must be provided for each of the following:

• Barcoded letters in direct trays
• Barcoded letters in residue trays
• Summary information.

Approval may be given to customers to vary the layout and content of the manifest to suit local circumstances. Approval to vary the manifest layout and/or content will normally be given providing the minimum requirements outlined above are met.
