Overview
These guidelines will assist you to :
- incorporate advertising or other content on Reply Paid articles
- meet the new Reply Paid addressing and formatting requirements
- ensure eligibility to receive best value for your articles.

Maximising Advertising space on the Envelope
When printing advertising or other content on pre-printed Reply Paid articles, you can increase the print area by:
- positioning the Reply Paid address and Delivery Address to the right edge of the respective addressing zones
- positioning the Reply Paid address to the far right of the Reply Paid Address Zone
- position the delivery address 50 mm from the right edge. The postage zone is reduced from 85 mm x 40 mm to 50 mm x 40 mm. No component of the Delivery Address can extend into the 50 mm x 40 mm postage zone
No component of the Reply Paid Address, including the printed barcode, can extend beyond the Reply Paid Address Zone.
At least 15 mm of space is required between the print content and the Reply Paid address. You cannot print any content to the right of the Reply Paid address. (Refer to Diagram A1.)

- Customers can print advertising or other content to the left of the Reply Paid Address (shaded area), provided at least 15mm of space is left between the print content and the Reply Paid address.
- Customers can also print advertising or other content to the left of the Delivery Address area (shaded area), provided at least 5mm of space is left between the print content and the Delivery Address.
Tag Zone
The Tag Zone extends for 20 mm from the bottom of the reverse side of the article and 130 mm from the left side of the article. It is reserved for use by Australia Post.
The Tag Zone must contain no printing and applies to letters, postcards and cards.
Reply Paid Address Font Requirements
The recommended font style for printed address details is Helvetica 12 point. You may use another type of proportional font, but the print characters must not touch or overlap.
Australia Post also recommends the use of fixed pitch fonts such as Courier 12 point 10 pitch, and OCR (B).
Delivery Address Font Requirements
The recommended font style for the text "Delivery Address:" is Helvetica Bold 8 point. The font style for the Reply Paid delivery address is Helvetica 8 point.
Address Structure
As per the above diagram, the text “Reply Paid” and the Reply Paid address number must be printed on the second-last line of the Reply Paid address.
The locality name, state abbreviation and postcode must be printed on the last line of the Reply Paid address.
Summary of Printing Specifications for Advertising or Other Content
- The delivery address cannot be printed within 50 mm of the right edge of the envelope.
- No print content can be printed within 15 mm of the Reply Paid barcode and Reply Paid address.
- No print content can appear within 5 mm of the delivery address.
- The Reply Paid address, delivery address, Reply Paid Barcode and contrast bars must be printed in black font.
