How long have the Awards been running?
The Australia Post NSW/ACT Small Business Awards are in their ninth year.

Who is eligible to enter?
Any Australian owned business registered in NSW or ACT that has less than 100 employees and has been in operation for two years or more with the exception of the Getting Started and the Your Choice categories.

Can we enter in more than one category?
Yes, you may enter your business in as many categories that you believe are relevant to your business as long as you highlight how your business success is relevant to each of the categories.
Note: If you do decide to enter in more than one category, you must prepare a submission for each category.
What category could or should I enter?
You will need to determine the main strength and focus of your business. For example your business may have a strong customer service focus and in that case the Customer Service category would be the one to choose. Or your business may have experienced excellent business growth over the financial year making Business Growth and Management the right category. Or your business may have a number of strong points across a range of business disciplines; in this case you could consider entering your business in a number of categories.
What if I have not been in business for more than two years?
The Getting Started category is especially for new businesses.

How do I get nominated for the Your Choice category?
The Your Choice Award provides the opportunity to either have your business nominated by a customer or for you to nominate your favourite small business. For this category the judges need to be provided with a customer’s perspective as to why the business should be recognised. Only 400 words are required on why the business is so exceptional.

When will I find out if I have made it as a finalist or if I've won an award?
Finalists will receive notification well in advance of the official announcements at Awards Gala Presentation Dinner 15 October 2005. The eight Category winners are selected from the three finalists in each category. The overall winner is chosen from category winners in Business Growth and Management, Import and Export, Marketing, Young Achievers, Technology and Customer Service.

How do I “quantify” success in my business?
The criteria for each category clearly state what the judges are looking for in each category.

How long can my submission be?
We recommend your submission be no longer than 1000 words, however we understand that it is not always possible to stay to 1000 words exactly. You should include a basic overview of your business such as who your target market is, description of product(s) or service(s), your business point of difference and an overview on how you intend to grow and manage your business. In order to be considered a finalist, judges are looking for businesses that demonstrate achievement in meeting milestones and show a strong commitment to planning.
