Australia Post helps reduce international delivery costs

25 May 2009

Australia Post can help save Australia’s small and medium sized businesses an average of almost 50 per cent on published rates for international deliveries, opening up new business opportunities and improving their ability to compete in today’s cost-conscious marketplace.

With possible savings of over 60 per cent to some destinations, such as the USA, exporters can enjoy significant, immediate cost savings on deliveries.

The savings result from comparing Australia Post Express Courier International service to competitor standard same day international services.

“We know a huge business cost for exporters lies in fulfilling orders and sending deliveries around the globe,” said Australia Post Group Manager International, Peter Morrison.

“Savvy businesses are now sitting up and asking do I really need overnight service when I can make significant and immediate cost reductions and still get it there within two to four days.”

“In many cases business don’t need next day delivery, they want reliability, ease of use and cost savings.”

Using Australia Post to send a parcel overseas is now even easier, with the launch of a new online service, Click and Send, allowing businesses to prepare, pay for and lodge parcels online.

“Click and Send means you can pay postage online using a credit card or an account, fill out the relevant details and have a Messenger Post Courier collect the item without leaving the office,” added Mr Morrison.

“The ease of using Click and Send, combined with cheaper delivery rates lets Australian businesses create new market opportunities internationally.”

In addition to cost savings and convenience, Australia Post is committed to delivering on rigorous international reliability standards.

An International Alliance of ten postal administrations, led by Australia Post Managing Director Graeme John, offers consistently high levels of reliability through improved processes, measures and delivery capabilities.

The Alliance is a collaborative network comprising Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, the United States and Singapore.

This extensive network raises the bar on what ‘delivery’ means, enforcing strict timelines and improved technical capabilities from all members.

With deliveries to more than 261 million addresses, 8 billion postcode combinations and service available at more than 142,000 retail locations, the Alliance provides a powerful network and consistently high delivery standards.
