Write to a local government representative for information about local activities (eg. school holiday programs, animal and dog pound details, library activities, etc).
Write to someone you admire (eg popstar, TV personality, favourite author, sporting personality, etc).

Write to offer your services to help out in the local community (hospital visits, visiting elderly people, helping in parks and gardens, cleaning up your town or city, etc).
