This information is designed to assist producers and users of mail to make more informed environmental choices during the production and use of mail.
We aim to highlight:
- environmentally friendly design and production processes
- identification of opportunities to conserve resources such as paper, packaging and other materials, and
- help facilitate the re-use and recycling of paper and packaging.
For a fact sheet of the best practice guidelines and principles to help minimise your environmental impact, see environmental considerations for mail production (pdf 273kb).
The need for action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is mandated by government policy with climate change high on the agenda for many socially responsible organisations.
There are a variety of opportunities for organisations to help reduce their impact on the environment when producing mail through the data, design, print and lodgement process.
The combination of corporate responsibility and environmental sustainability can improve business processes and efficiency which can ultimately translate to the triple bottom line – competitive advantage, cost savings and enhanced brand reputation. In addition, responsible stewardship practices today will help avoid an environmental crisis.
