STREAMLINING
In the continuing drive to increase efficiency, many Post functions were centralised. MND took control of every aspect of mail processes. Post’s high-volume transaction processing division, Shared Services, was extended to the New South Wales operation. Post’s new Supply Chain and Property Solutions division started streamlining supply chain activities for the corporation.
COST SAVINGS
The most significant operational cost savings came in mail processing and delivery due to benefits from our $500 million FuturePost program. Another significant saving was the reduction in the corporation’s contributions and cost reimbursements to the Australia Post Superannuation Scheme. Throughout the corporation many other cost savings were made. Shared Services introduced a system which charges internal Post customers for services used so they can better identify how to reduce costs. Shared Services also improved the corporation’s daily cashflow management. Supply Chain and Property Solutions achieved savings by improving aggregate buying, streamlining purchasing processes, reducing inventory levels, smarter accommodation use, and initiatives such as Post iPrint and national waste management.
