Highlights include:
- 2,821 outlets offering giroPost (2,816 previously);
- 31 million giroPost transactions handled (28 million previously);
- National Australia Bank (the National) joining Post’s giroPost network; and
- extending giroPost business banking.
Post also provided business banking services in a pilot with Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) at 113 selected rural sites, and with the National at one rural site. giroPost plans to offer business banking to all its giroPost partners in the third quarter of 2001.
Post Billpay
Highlights include:
- growth in Post’s share of the over-the-counter bill payment market by four per cent to 48.3 per cent;
- a rise in Post Billpay principals to 450 (390 previously);
- 170 million bills paid through Post Billpay (160 million previously), representing more than $60 billion in total payments;
- 38 million cheques handled (43 million previously),reflecting increased customer use of electronic channels, including EFTPOS; and
- the launch of Post Billpay on the Internet to third-party service providers who invite their customers to pay invoices through Post.
