Transaction processing

Shared Services Division (SSD), Post's high-volume transaction processing operation, began its new role as an external, as well as internal, service provider.

Internally, SSD coordinates staff pay, processes 15 million accounting transactions a year, settles Postbillpay transactions and pays invoices for the corporation. It worked with other areas of Post to create business solutions for Post customers.

One example was working with Post Logistics to win Microsoft's Xbox business for which SSD now does the billing, order management and customer care. Having worked with Telstra since February 2002 assisting mobile phone distribution, SSD prepared to extend its credit management services to Telstra phonecards.

During the year, SSD invited staff to participate in Vision Workshops. These generated a new business strategy involving it offering its services to third parties.
