What is Post Office and Street Posting Box Locator?
Post Office and Street Posting Box Locator has been designed to allow users to find Australia Post retail outlet and street posting box locations based on a selected criterion such as suburb.
When I search only five outlets are displayed?
The search engine has been limited to only display up to 5 outlets that best meet the search criteria chosen. If you chose for example to enter a street address such as 321 Exhibition Street Melbourne then the search engine will find the 5 closest outlets by distance from the chosen street address.
How many street posting boxes are displayed?
In all cases the street posting boxes displayed will be determined by the user selecting either the post code or suburb as the search criteria.
Handy Hints
Access
Post Office and Street Posting Box Locator is accessible to users from 2 sources, auspost.com.au and selecting the Post Office Locator link or direct by entering http://www.auspost.com.au/locations in the URL of the Internet browser.
Searching
The interface has been designed to allow users to find post office and/or street posting box locations by selecting the state, street address, town/suburb or postcode. Additionally, users can limit their post office selection and find a specific service by selection one or more of Bank@Post, Passport Interviews, Photopoint, PO Boxes and PO Boxes available.
The 5 closest post offices (by distance) from the search criteria will be displayed and all street posting boxes in either the post code or suburb.
Navigating
Following the completion of the first search, users have the ability to obtain additional information about the outlet such as opening hours. This can be achieved by selecting:
Search Limitations - Post Offices
The search functionality has been restricted to ensure that the application is timely and useable. A high level search (eg by postcode) will provide the closest 5 outlets to that Postcode. A more detailed search (eg by suburb name or street address) will provide the closest 5 matches to that search. It is possible that these two different searches will return a different set of outlets, as the search criteria is different.
Position of the Pin
The search engine will determine the placement of the pin based on the search parameters. This will be the centre of the postcode boundary except where a user has entered a street address. If the user does not enter a number then this will be the centre of the map and closest to the street name.
Find a Service
The selection of a service from the initial search page will limit the results of the search.
